The Future of RSDC

As we all know, the amazing counselors of Rising Sun 2011 will not be around forever so, who are the prospective counselors for say...RSDC '15? This inspired me to conduct an interview session with a Camp 3 child who has been attending camp since he was little. These are a few comments he had to reply with:

Why do you want to become a counselor?

I would like to be a counselor for a lot of reasons, mostly because I LOVE working with kids. It is fun to play all day and get paid! I also see how easy it is to meet new people...plus the activities at camp are "ROCKING!"

Which counselors have inspired you to become a counselor & why?

Well...I have a few. First would be Coover, because he is my counselor and is basically just so awesome! Next would be Jason, because all the kids love him, so he is amazing at building relationships. Finally, Ashley Kopp because she is so enthusiastic and pumped for every game she leads (usually dressed up like a army trooper or fly).

Finally, why do you think your "qualified" to become a counselor?

Well I have made a few cheers/raps for my huddle in the past; I know counselors do that a lot. Also, I have been pied at least 10 times with concoctions including shaving cream, mustard, sprinkles, and even relish...taking nasty to a whole new level! Finally, I believe I have great leadership qualities, which ever counselor must have.

As you can see, our counselors try to make an impact on the lives of different campers everyday in hopes to "replace themselves" for the future. Part of our mission at Rising Sun is to build relationships and inspire young campers, which I believe is evident from the interview conducted today!

Do not forget about our family night on FRIDAY at the YMCA! Contact the office with additional questions regarding the activities and times!
