Family Night TOMORROW!

Tomorrow night, July 7th, is our Go Change Move Family Night! In order to take advantage of this special theme, we want to take this opportunity to explain what Go Change Move is. Go Change Move is an organization that strives to empower our generation and the next, to change the world for the better. Whether it’s helping out in the local community or making a global impact, the mission of Go Change Move is to show people how valuable their time and efforts can be to change a life.

By showing up to family night, you will be supporting Share our Shoes, a local organization that sends out shoes overseas, as well as TOMS shoes, a national organization that runs a one for one program. Any time you purchase a pair of TOMS shoes, they send a pair to a child that has never had any. Tomorrow night we will also be making friendship bracelets and writing letters to orphans in Uganda. You will have the opportunity to learn about Jerry Cans and how vital they are in many people’s day to day lives. TOMS shoeless soccer will also take place, dancing around the world, and the amazing race where one lucky participant can win a TOMS gift card that goes towards purchasing a pair of shoes.

Along with raising awareness, we will have a change for change drive and a shoe drop. We are asking that you scavenge for any and all loose change in your cars and couches to donate. Rising Sun hopes that we can help raise enough money to help build a water well in Uganda, Africa. We will also have Share Our Shoes drop boxes. We ask that if you have any shoes that you can no longer wear to bring them to the drop box. [high heels, sneakers, dress shoes, flip flops – we will take them all]. At the end of the night we will show a video premier of the Cary Y’s TOMS 2011 Walk a Mile in Our Shoes event.

The Y believes that social responsibility is imperative to who we are and what we represent. We look forward to a night that allows you to show your children how easy and important it is to give back to our world.
