Be Cool, Be Safe, and Wear Sunscreen

Happy Tuesday! Judging from the spirit in assembly this morning, today is going to be a great day. Campers were pumped to hear from our new friends Zach and Mark who surfed all the way to Camp Rising Sun so they could hang out with us all week. Today they shared an important summer message with us: be cool, be safe, and always wear sunscreen. They warned us that they were actually sunscreen police, so they will be walking around camp to make sure everyone is lathered up. If not, they warned us that they might be smearing campers with sunscreen when they least expect it. I predict some messy fun in the future, something Camp Rising Sun always does best!

Speaking of being outside, an intense 3 vs. 3 beach soccer tournament was taking place down by the sand volleyball courts. I was lucky enough to catch the final round as the green and purple teams played an action packed game. With one of our very own campers as the referee, everyone played a fair game full of sportsmanship and fun. The players even had their own fanbase from the fossil rank cheering them on. After a hard played game, the purple team scored the last winning goal with the final score of 3 to 1.

Don't forget about WACKY WEDNESDAY tomorrow! Every Wednesday our camp dresses up according to our weekly theme. This week's theme is "Around the World in Five Days". Campers can wear anything from a toursit outfit to something representing different cultures from around the world. Get creative!

It was nice meeting you all at rides out! Let me know if you have any ideas to spice up the process in the afternoon. I'm thinking...lemonade? Email me your ideas at becca.rubin@ymcatriangle.org!
