Friday Parties

What better way to end this summer than with some PARTIES! Camp 1 had a sweet Black Light Rave and got their groove on in a neon wonderland!  The kids had a lot of fun, and the counselors and CILTs even got a little creative with glow-in-the-dark mustaches.

Later this afternoon, campers were treated to a wacky water party!  On Central Park, we had a sprinkler for the kids to run through.  We even served snow cones - so delicious!

On the Side Hill, we set up our super-popular Slip and Slide!  The campers had a blast seeing how fast they could race down the track.
These parties were truly the best way to spend our last Friday together!  The campers - and counselors - had so much fun just hanging out and being goofy together.  Even though we're just a couple of hours away from 6:00pm, it feels as though camp will last forever because of these memories we are making right now!  Make sure to ask your campers about the fun activities they participated in, both today as well as during the entire summer!

A Final Walk-Through of Camp

Walking into camp this morning was definitely different than every other morning this summer. The energy was still high, but it's so clear what is on all of our minds: goodbyes. But we don't have to say it just yet!

Before getting emotional, I'd like to take you on one last tour of this beautiful camp. Here we go!

Thursday Morning Fun!

Birthday Pies in the face, soccer scrimmages, archery and more!  Camp is a great place to diversify and grow.  Campers have a variety of choices and spend a great deal of time trying to pass of skills in their Ranks Book.  Ask you camper how many levels they have passed off this summer!

Friends are Forever!

Today we had our weekly wacky Wednesday contest! The theme this week was a combination of all the themes from this summer. The winner of this wacky Wednesday was a FuManchu who chose to dress as a shark from "under the sea" week. His friends from his huddle congradulated him with a big group hug!

We stopped by the pool to snap a few shots! We saw a group of friends holding hands, about to jump in, and couldn't resist but to take a picture!

These Camp 3 girls have been friends since Camp 1! Frienships at the YMCA last forever!

Snow White - Adapted for RSDC

For the last Camp 1 Story Time of the summer the campers were treated to Snow White and the Three Dwarves, adapted for Rising Sun.  Our camper's were treated to just three dwarves.  Story Time is such a unique programmed time of the day for our youngest campers!  Be sure to ask you camper about Story Time!

The Morning In the Sun

We had a great time getting to see the morning session of Ranks today at Camp Rising Sun.  A couple of moments in particular stood out.  First, Maddie at Golf Rank.  Campers learned a lot about how to properly swing a golf club.  It was also great to see campers show respect and support for one another by "golf clapping" after a successul swing.  Second, was at Fossil Hunt.  The enthusiasm for campers to find the biggest shark's tooth was amazing to see.   Third, was the rest of the activities that happen each day.  There is so much happening from Archery, Hockey, Backyard Games, Tennis, and Soccer.  We can't wait to see what the rest of the day has in store here at Camp Rising Sun!
